Ok not sure it would even be possible but have you got your crankcase breather pipe mixed up with your fuel line and attached it to your fuel tank, just a random thought :scare:

if you leave your fuel tap on, and theres something wrong with ur carbs, they can leak fuel into your engine.

you should change the oil and turn the fuel tap off when the bike is not running. its kind of an issue some old bikes have, you either continually flip the fuel tap, or you figure out whats wrong with your carbs.

Stop trying to run it - you'll fuck it up.

Get the tank off and see whether the tap works or not - does off stop the flow?

Then get the carbs off and clean and sort them out - you'll likely have a stuck float that is letting the fuel trickle through the carbs into the engine...washing the bores and diluting the oil in yourr sump = bad

Fix that, change the oil and if your tap does not turn off you will be wanting to either replace it or fit a dry break coupling and remember to stop the flow when you park it up.

Good luck...

If the fuel tap isn't modified (which a lot are), you shouldn't need to turn it to off when the bike is stopped - the standard tap is vacuum operated, and only opens when the bike is running.

There's also a chance the tap seal is so buggered that it will still leak in the off position. If the carb floats are seating then it still shouldn't leak into the bores though...

you can't see if it has been modified unless you open it up. best thing to do is to disconnect the fuel hose and see if fuel continuously flows even if the tap is in the OFF position.
