NC30 questions please help
Hi i recently bought an NC30 that im going to have to resrict
, however she is having a few teething problems,
choke on she starts up fine once warm, choke off she ticks over at just under 2000rpm but she is hunting all the time but never acutally stalls, give her a little rev and she starts to stutter a bit say 5000rpm onwards,
jump on her and she pulls fine and goes quick but ive not been able to take her for a proper rip as the private road just aint long enuff.
she has had new plugs, oil is clean, air filter is ok but new one is on the way, she has a ART end can on her but she runs smoother with this on than the standard end can she also came wiv,
i guess what im askin if there is any one who could say what they think could be the prob with the hunting and stutter, also should i get this ironed out b4 she gets restricted
as i hear restriction
comes with its own set of tuning probs or do you guys think she just needs a good blast as i belive she was stood for a while

Thanks a lot , carbs will be comin off monday after work, gunna replace fuel lines too as they look like they seen better days, good thing i have a old m8 who runs a bike workshop he only works on superbikes mostly and the odd harley and stuff
have free range of his tools and space, with a bit of his help and with the guidance from people on here (who probley know more about the v4 than anyone else)we should get it running sweet, ive only had the bike a short while and im definatly hooked on this machine, i am in love with the NC30

The carbs also sound like they could do with a balance (hunting idle). You can do this crudely (but effectively!) with the carbs off, or you can use vacuum gauges to balance them when they're back on the bike (difficult because of lack of space!).
I agree with you on getting it to run properly before restricting.

Yes you can do it as above with the carbs off the bike.rich1988 wrote:is there any way to blance them other than with specialist equipment
Instead of using a vacuum gauge you insert a very small drill bit (or piece of solder) into each carb as they're adjusted. Start with by winding the idle adjustor fully out until you can start the process on the first carb, just follow the haynes order for balancing.
This isn't really 'balancing' them, rather just synchronising all the throttle butterflys. Using vacuum gauges while the bike is running may be more accurate, but it's not worth the time if you're going to do it yourself IMO.
FWIW this is the only method I've ever used on all of my nc30's and it's worked a treat.

I'm with Cammo. All I have ever done for balancing was with 1mm drill bits..works well enough for me!

Re: NC30 questions please help
well been in the workshop all day , carbs off cleaned and and put back on ,
holy shit what a mission that was
, i didnt think id ever get them off but a walk away cuppa tea and a few fags later off they came , pesky carb rubber clamps are in totally impossible areas to reach,
getting them back on was not to difficult only took 3 hours in total hahah
bike seems much more responsive and the hunting on the idle seems to have disapeared so all good now time for the stinkin restrictors
tank off carbs out , i put the washers on the underside of the carb rubbers not the carb side , not sure if this is right but they seemed to fit better that side now to get them back on again , with a little effort some harsh words and a few more fags , they were back on
, air box on tank on hoses conected now the moment of truth, choke on c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon she roared into life wuhoo
now all the time i was fitting the resrictors the workshop began to fill with fellow biker friends of the owner and i was the butt of many jokes and ribbing its gunna be a wet fish blah blah yea yeah funny haha ,
,
but on the way home i was quite suprised she pulls real good and on a nice quiet stretch of open road about 3 miles and pretty straight too, she hit 100 fairly easy (only testin mind , i would never do that normally
) so i am more than happy with her in restricted mode for now , so in all ,jobs a goodun my first proper delve under the tank on my new bike went ok , im chuffed to bits , now time to start to total up all the mods and wish list to turn her into the head turner i want her to be , im sure i will need help and advice and all the threads iv read on here so far have been of great help already , id be fucked without you guys for sure

Good to hear man... Well done!
We all started somewhere and once you get to know the moto you will be doing it all yourself.
In fact..you might end up buying pieces here and bits there....and sooner or later you'll be making another bike..just because you can and V4s rule..
