Carb issue any ideas?

Post by pmc_3 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 10:02 pm

Looking at a VFR 400 advertised. It is advertised with carbs need cleaning as it cuts out every so often. Asked for a bit more info and this is what the guy told me
usually every couple of miles she starts to bog down & you have to pull over. If you switch the choke to full while pulled over she keeps running then she clears up after a minute, it feels like the carbs are getting overfilled with fuel & you have to give it a mo to burn the excess off so they definately need a good clean out
Does this sound like a fairly easy/cheap fix? or should I avoid...

Cheers

Could be anything really! But it does sound carb/fuel related.

But whilst VFR carbs are a little temperamental, they can always be tuned with a bit of work. I wouldn't let it hold you back from a purchase (as long as the rest of the bike isn't a dog). A good clean and replace and/or set them up as per Mr. Honda intended and you'll probably be good to go.

The ladies and gents on here would be more than eager to assist with the problem if you do make the purchase.
