Yeah CMSMJ1,
Done the tests you mentioned, and seemed ok initially, then checked my batt, and even that appeared to be charging. It just decided to give up charging after a stall. After I got it running again obviously
I will be investing in an Optimate too!!!

I doubt I will ever be that good! most of the stuff I know just comes from general mechanical knowledge I have never stayed interested in one vehicle long enough to get any real in depth knowledge (had 2 bikes and 7 cars in three years!)

Re: Surprise Behind Generator Cover ??
Ok, here's the latest....
Charged battery at work and have just tried it on the bike to find the starter solenoid click like crazy. Bridged the solenoid to get absolutely nothing other than instrument lights dimming.
I'm beginning to wonder... Is it also likely i have foobed my starter clutch from regularly bump starting the bike? It wasn't until I began bump starting it that the solenoid began to repeatedly click. In the past it has just made feeble attempts to turn the bike over, no matter how flat the battery was then made a quiet click.
Its looking like i'll be demoted to pushbike for a little while longer, but on the bright side; got some time off at the end of this week to give her some TLC.
Any insight, as always, would appreciated

did you check the voltage on the battery after it had rested after charging? Im still convinced that the clicking is caused by the battery just being too weedy to start it

Sounds like the battery is fooked..can you borrow one? A YTX7 or YTX9 will do it...from anything

Did you follow the elextrex world guide at all?tomski wrote:Battery and Optimate 4 now on order

The first step is fully charge the battery and test the voltage.
The Second step is testing the battery by putting the headlight on for 30 seconds
:D
