Hmm bit worried now ...

I was foolish, bought the bike off evilbay for 2.5k with no tax and mot and without even seeing it cos the bloke said he rated it 95/100.. how wrong he was.

When I got the bike after a week I found there was no engine bolts in the middle holding it to the frame :o there are suspect new bolts on bottom of forks and side stand etc, the fairing looks too new and the back one is a race seat converted to accept lights, 45t rear sprocket, slight dint in swinger, this has track bike written all over it :(

I have something called a Inforad on the bike which is a GPS receiver and a LED light which lights up when your near a speed camera, not only that but it also tells you of your top speed (thats why I really got it)

When takin the bike down this bit of unused road  I saw just under 110mph on the clock and it wouldnt go any more, when I got back I checked the inforad for the GPS speed and that said I did a true GPS 107mph so the clocks about spot on perfect, why it stops at this speed I don't know

Heres captures of the inforad :

The bike does pull cleanly all the way to the redline and this is just how fast it goes, I do not know what size front sprocket is on the front yet, I am hoping that this has something to do with it ?

Am gonna take me speedo off today and take some pics and take this disc out and see if that makes a difference

It may just still have the 112mph factory restriction in place for all you know.

A nicely setup road rvf still shouldn't have big flat spots in the rev range, so something is possibly up with the carburetion other than a potential speed restrictor.

I wouldn't be too worried at all, these bikes have a few built in issues but everything can be overcome if the engine is in good nick (you'd know by now if it isn't - they either usually run or not! Seriously.

The amount of good info on experts on this site is amazing, you'll soon be set right. The more info you can provide the better.

These bikes are rippers, WHEN (not IF) you get it sorted you'll soon see it was worth the trouble.

Does the bike have a speedo convertor jobbie -blue thing behind the clocks?

I cannot figure how it would even get 107mph on the 45T rear sprocket.

std for an RVF is 15F and 38R Going up 7 teeth on the rear is going to drop the top speed a decent amount.

It would prob only do 130/135 anyways

My 30 does 115 or so on 14/41 gearing which is still taller than 15/45

The speedo would sweep all the way past 180kmh before the bike was anywhere near that in real life.

No theres no speedo conveter on it and the clocks have mph ones on going to 140mph, let me see if I have a pic.

Ere ya go :)

I dunno why there is the orange tape at 10 and 12.5k ? could that be a track thing too ? why would someone do that ? and if they opened the clocks to do that surely they did the speed mod but I will check later today if thats the case.

I have a GSX-R400 project bike as well thats kinda be left at the moment but that thing which has never ran well did 180kpg (111mph) in 4th gear at the limiter way faster than this RVF so sommats defo not right, but gonna check clocks, filter, and finally put chain and sprockets right and see if there is a difference and take it from there *fingers crossed*

Yes, if it still has the factory speed restriction in place.

The speedo looks like it has had one of the "redial" dials put on in place of the original Kph one.
