You need a fair few mods to run one of these mate..not really road bike stuff.

Rick is a member on here... PM him or mail him. He is a top fella and has the best NC goodies!

Matt, what are you wanting to do? As Mark says above an hrc jet kit is not really needed (or wanted) for a roadbike, there are easier and cheaper ways to get a performance upgrade. I run an hrc kit in my racebike, but I'll happily settle for a nicely jetted carb setup in my roadbike, hrc jet kit will be bad for performance!

'Jet kit' is a common term bandied around, but essentially all you get in these kits is bigger sized main jets and needles that (supposedly!) perform better. The standard needles are entirely adequate for all but the most outrageous race setups. 8-)

If all you want is larger jets then they're a common part that all local Keihin distributors can supply (google for your nearest).

The main jet Keihin part numbers are 99101-393-0XXX (how sad I remember that! :( ). XXX being the jet size you need (e.g. 112), very easy to get hold of.

I can't stress enough the importance of consulting the 400gb oracle for problems with this bike, bets are that many peeps have been in your situation before and answers have been found!

p.s. Check out your air filter first, odds are that a previous owner has screwed it up...

Wow thanks guys really appreciate the info :worthy:

I wanted a HRC ECU and Jet Kit, basically I love me little 400 and want it to be the best bike it can be

I had a Yamaha R1 before this but came off up the peak district about 4 months ago and wrote it off :( me first ever crash, wasn't nice what happened and I am still having physio for torn rotator cuff and forearm damage, I did a little video of it if you wanna see  I put this together last week, just some final closure on the whole event :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KngST-A3ADs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So after this I decided, back to basics, I needed to stop doin 170mph on the road and trying to catapult myself into orbit on every ride out, now I just wanna enjoy it again and I feel I have the perfect bike, but 107mph isnt good

I will take it to bits as suggested and check the air filter first, also I have just this second ordered a 520 chain and sprockets kit from Talon engineering, nice gold chain and sprockets, I have gone for standard gearing.

So many questions (takes deep breath) will take it one step at a time.

Thanks again guys

I can totally understand that way of thinking Matt, but there are wiser ways to improve the performance than flashy add-ons!

Most of the hrc gear is designed to work as a whole, bits and pieces won't necessarily add up to a healthy performing bike (mas many before us have found out :worthy: ). My racebike runs full hrc carbs, yet I recently sold the hrc cdi because the standard one performed better.... work that one out!

There are some very clear modifications you can do to improve the overall performance at little cost. However I would suggest you put this in the back of your mind for now and concentrate on your current running issues. You're starting with a bike that has some good parts, so you're half way there.

Happy to consult on cheap gains when it's sorted!!

Cheers mate really appreciate that

OK I'll start by taking the clocks off and doing that mod, I'll also take some good high res pics for the board to show others EXACTLY what to do, then I'll check / replace the air filter and put standard gearing on and test again and take it from there.

Feeling better about it already 8-)
