Nc30 cutting out at 120mph
Hi, i was on my bike earlier and i got to 120mph and it felt like 2 cylinders cut out and it wouldn't go any faster, it's happened before but i thought it was coz it's restricted behind the clocks, but i've heard it cuts out at 180kph if it's restricted behind the clocks so it can't be that can it? I was at 200kph (120mph) so i'm just wondering why it won't go any faster lol! Is it restricted, i find it hard to believe somehow.
Any ideas peeps? They'd be much appreciated as always! :)
Cheers.

Sounds like its cutting out as per restriction, maybe check the connections behind clocks etc. Did you have the top speed restriction removed? Or get a converter that screws into the clock, gets u to top speed, prob 130, but still not enough....

Re: Nc30 cutting out at 120mph
Hi, thanks for the quick reply, i haven't got a clocks derestrictor (well not fitted anyway) when i bought it i was told it was derestricted so took his word for it, does it definately cut out at 180kph if the restrictors for the clocks are there?

ive not been out on my nc30 for a bit but im convinced that its the same with mine......it goes past the 180kph before it starts to misfire as its only firing on the two cylinders.....
mine is still restricted and its definately the restriction kicking in with mine.i had my sat nav out once to see what the speed was and its reaching about 116mph before the restriction kicks in. :D

please,god,....give me the chance to prove that winning the lottery won't spoil me!!!

Re: Nc30 cutting out at 120mph
easy problem fixed to test get a 200 - 300ohm resistor cut the orange purple wire comming out of the cdi solder one end of the resistor to the orange/purple wire going to the cdi and the other end of the resistor to the black white wire on the cdi or any other wire that becomes +12vdc when ignition is on (do not cut the black wire right through just strip a little back and solder it there) a resistor costs about 3p any wattage will do 1/4 etc make sure you insulate.
You can then rip that junk off by your clocks its on a 3 pin plugjust disconect it if you like it wont matter what you do with it as its no longer seen by the cdi.
this will remove the speed restriction on any non uk model rvf/vfr
if you still have problems at 120mph you need to look elsewhere or get a bigger bike. In the real world (not going off the tacho) these bikes barley do more than 125 any way with normal gearing so i wouldnt worry to much

as chris said, also if someone has chopped away at the disk inside the speedo head, there is a chance they havnt removed it and just cut a bit away hence the beam still gets broken and the restriction

Re: Nc30 cutting out at 120mph
Cheers guys, i have the blue converter that goes into the bottom of the speedo so i will install that and see how she goes then. My main question is, could it still be restricted behind the clocks cutting out at 200kph or does it definately cut out at 180kph?

Re: Nc30 cutting out at 120mph
The 120 mph you mention is the indicated speed on the speedometer. In reality at that speed the clocks given a natural inaccuracy will likely be over reading and it is very likely you are actually doing 112mph which is 180kph.
This is most likely the restrictor kicking in.
