a couple of questions

just got a cb-1 the fork seals have obviously gone, can anyone recommend somewhere to get replacements?
it currently has bridgestone battlax bt45 tyres, are these well suited to the bike?

any other advice greatly appreciated, as I know next to nowt about these bikes.

Not sure on the fork seals but as for tyres, the 45's are fine for road riding and may as well use them till they're one but 090's are very very good in all conditions and last a reasonable amount of time.

I'd be tempted by an 090 front and 45 rear - seems to be the best of both worlds. Although, the 150 rear 92's profile on my friend's CB1 does seem to have quite a shallow profile.

I've heard it's not best to mix a radial tyre (090 front) with a cross ply (45 rear) - is this true?

try ebay or failing that wemoto,i've had to replace my front with bt 21's seems ok.still got plenty of miles left on the bt45's on the rear,and i've done about 13000'skms since i've had it.....

forks sorted(I hope), need to either refurb the rear shock or replace it now, and give the bike a service, tyres will last a while was just interested to see if they were decent tyres to be using.

The original shock on the CB-1 can cause some querky handling, esp on tight corners. A good modification is to replace with a good condition 1995 fireblade shock. These bolt straight in, you just have to mount the reservoir somewhere. Most put them on the frame on the right front side of the seat.

A friend of mine has a Hagon on his CB1 - seems pretty good for his uses and an improvement over the tired original.

My CB1 a few years ago had a modified Fireblade shock with an Ohlins spring - that worked pretty nicely.

Note on the tyres - I'm currently changing mine to Dunlop Roadsmarts - I've changed the front at the moment, as the Pirelli on my Superfour wasn't such a great match for the Dunlop GPR80 on that back. However, despite there being a pair of Dunlops on the bike now, the front is a lot 'rounder' than the back - which leads to some interesting handling (also given the fact that I've got new suspension on the back and spongy forks up front).

Note to self - when tyres are miss-matched, change in pairs!
