Does anyone know what the torque settings should be on the rear wheel pinch bolt?
Mine is stuck solid at the moment and was going to get a torque wrench to help get the thing off as my normal short socket set just won't do it at the moment
Honda Genuine Manual states that the Rear Hub Pinch bolt, if that is what you are referring to, should be Torqued up to 165nm. So it will take some leverage to get it on and off correctly. (Although you only need to loosen it, not remove it)
As for the Rear Wheel Nut, that should be 120nm so again, some good leverage will be required.
As for leverage, DO NOT USE A TORQUE WRENCH TO UNDO NUTS AND BOLTS!!! You will end up damaging the Torque mechanism and the thing wont work! Even if you think you havent damaged it, you could still of done in such a fashion that the Torque readings it gives out will be innaccurate and cannot be trusted!!
You should use a standard Narrow handled Wrench and then put a bar or long metal pipe over the handle for extra leverage!
Ok so that bolt is on seriously tight, can't shift the bloody thing at all. Left it soaking in WD-40 overnight to see if that helps.
One other question that suddenly popped into my head was is that bolt a reverse left hand thread? Can't see why it would be as it's not under any rotational force that could undo it but wanted to double check........
Just to clarify it's the rear pinch bolt that needs to be undone to adjust the chain.
Yea the rear pinch bolt to the right of the chain, it should have a metal clip which holds the brake pipe in place, loosen it then rotate the hub adjuster away from you to tighten the chain (it doesnt need to move much at all to tighten) its a normal thread so lefty loosey (pushing the bar away from you towards the wheel) get a breaker bar on it, someones probably used one to tighten it up
