I think you'll find this is standard and the ones you've seen have been fitted with aftermarket sprockets, most OEM front and rear sprockets have rubber dampers. Admittedly I don't know for sure about the VFR4 but I remember a friends NSR125F for example had them.

EDIT: Looking at http://www.bike-parts.fr/pieces-promo-4 ... 1300-.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and it very much looks like it has a rubber damper as standard.

thanks for that, my blade / ninja & rs125 which i all had from new never had the rubber guide around the sprocket so it was new to me.

spent a couple of hours today clean / checking the swing arm and bearings etc.. have to say this is my first singled sided swing arm bike and what a piece of engineering! complex but simple everything is so well thought out.

stripped the lot down yesterday ( before pic )

rebuilt today after some good old fashion elbow grease

i know there not the most exciting photos but i am trying to keep a complete record of what has been done.

apart from having the wheels sandblasted any other suggestions for taking the wheel back to basics? trying to do prep work at home to keep costs down.

will be looking for a nice chain and sprockets, not sure when though - the one that is on there is perfectly fine so might keep this on just to get through the mot etc and keep costs down for the second.

thanks to everyones comments it is nice to know people are interested in what i am attempting, i am trying to add up dates as often as i can but as mentioned with our new baby this is proving harder than thought.

exactly i like the simpleness of it, obviously change the nsf to vfr but apart from that i think it looks great, may have to add a red pinstripe to the wheels to blend - im not sure yet.

i just want something different and i think this will be it.

Try to imagine it with all the red bits in white... MMMMM!!!! Or perhaps a deep blue, that would also be wicked? I know honda and Red go together like Peas And Carrots, but Why not be different, I like it that way. LOL
