After a night out doign roundabout to get my knee down, i have started to get a rattle from my engine, also if i open the oil hole where the dip stick is, the exhast fumes come out of there.
number one exhaust does not get hot unless the engine is ragged, and when i compression test it, the compression was soemtimes there sometimes not.
when reving the engien the exhasut from oil hole problem dissapears.
gonna take it to bit in a minute with my misses!

I kind of get what you are saying there...
It either has compression or it doesn't/ If you open the oil filler adn rev it..you should get oil splurging out I reckon..
Exhaust in the bottom of the engine means it is not working right so gas past the piston rings. You need to check it out matey..and get a trackday booked as there is nothing lamer than surfing roundabouts..lol

took engine apart, all the pistons are fine. lots of black chunks of soot on the tops of each of them.
all the rings are ok on each piston, there is some small brown staining above the oil ring and under the the two main rings on each piston.
it reminded me of my 2stroke days seeing all the soot. is this normal in a 2 stroke?
I could still see honing marks on each of the bores.
It was definately exhaust that was comming from the oil fil hole, just can work out where it was comming from.

I have replaced the engine.
should have done it a long time ago, the replacement feels so smooth.
If anyone is after some spares let me know, I will take the old one apart if its not too much work.

send me an offer, or swap for something, rh casing looks like bike has gone down, but has no leaks just scuffs.
