If you could by an NC30 bit by bit.....

Been away from here for a while and bikeless unfortunately starting a new job soon though (stoodent) and wondering how folks would go about building the ultimate NC30 bit by bit - may take a wee while but looking for the enjoyment of putting it all together. So, what would you put onto your dream NC30 and why? (standard frame as a start)

I've "finished" my bike this year (in an ideal world I'd change to a light weight front wheel but other than that I'm really happy with how its all worked out) first of all I'd recommend buying a runner along side the project bike - I ended up buying a couple of Rvfs whilst I was still building my 30 to tide me over. The most important aspect of these bikes has to be the suspension, I opted for a complete ducati 996 front end (as in forks, yokes, wheel, braking system etc) and a late modified Rs250 shock on an Rvf dogbone linkage, the results are outstanding, a noticable improvement over my origonal late spec nc30 front end and rebuilt lengthened shock and the added bonus of incredible brakes. I also opted for Rick Olivers 750 hub conversion so I can now run 160 section 17" tyres. After that the cosmetics are down to you really, standard, silhouette, tyga, custom or streetfighter. I also run a larger airbox, rvf carbs, k+n filter and an ethos half system but the suspension and brakes have really made the bike.

Is the fitment of the Ducati front end rather challenging or is it just a case of changing a few bearings? Also, I see a lot of 17" rear wheel conversions - does this have any advantages apart from increased tyre choice?

I supply the ducati fitting kits, it is very simple to install, re-uses the standard nc30 headstock bearings and is totally reversalable should you want to return the bike to standard at any time. the cost is £83 delivered and is supplied with fitting instructions and i can supply photos of the kit in situ and advice on fitting via email to those who purchase the kits. There are several members on this site who have bought the fitting kits including Smev and vfrman, there are 3 bikes in Gloucestershire alone with the ducati front ends, one of those being my own bike and the other two being a direct response of riding my bike.
