1200cc V4!?

Post by Neosophist »

MCN article

Honda seem to have high hopes for the new proto v4

"Takagi said: “We really believe we can develop a new era starting with this V4-powered machine. It is just the beginning and represents a new breed of Honda which will define Honda’s own taste and styling.

“This bike will be the perfect road machine that Honda customers have called for. It will be an epoch-making machine and more bikes from the V4 platform are possible."

lol,

cos obviously the brakes and the handling etc will be able to cope with it.
Too many bikes, so little time!

Have you ever ridden a shaft drive? I love them :D Chain maintanance isn't a mission but its dirty and horrible lol :D

My uncles Super Magna is a Shaftdrive 750 V4 and its awesome... I know people say that shaft drives are expensive to fix if/when they break / wear out but look at how much you'll spend on the equiv chains and sprockets..

^ His Magna :)

Back on the subject of the new VFR.. I know I dont know what to make of it, im siding with you on the unsureness, but im pro shaft drive 8-)

But saying that I also like driving automatic cars (unless im on a race track of course) haha

Dear Honda,

Please show us something more than a plastic model.

Love,
dx4

PS: Just save some money and make the RC45 more modern. We wont mind!

Honda`s official line on this...

Honda (UK) cannot confirm or otherwise that this is actually the new V4
powered machine.

We would suggest the following response in case of questions:
"We do not know if MCN's images are a true reflection of the finished
machine. There have been a number of speculative computer generated designs
of the new V4 powered bike already published, based on the concept model,
but we look forward to seeing and revealing the actual model of this all
new breed of machine in the Autumn."

If it is the real thing, then with asymmetric cam layout, VTEC, cylinders cutting on tickover for economy and all the other crap in my opinion it suffers from the common affliction of TMT (Too Much Technology).

I also like shaft drive, BTW...

VTEC (on cars ? hooray!, on the 800? BOOO!) - Have read enough of the VFR800 being slated to shit over its VTEC transition which is supposedly as smooth as being kicked by a horse.

Cylinders cutting on tickover for economy - Not building another sports tourer are you Honda?

I have also read something about their Human Friendly Transmission. Oooh that a gamble on such an eagerly awaited bike...

Forget the 'More Crap than News' article, this looks a bit more likely ;) http://www.leftlanenews.com/honda-v4.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
