Re: CRM's - The current fleet (not 56k)
That just made me laugh out loud - I know exactly what your talking about there and yes it is terrible - I never actually though I was cut out for biking until I stopped buying LC's 125 250 350's and paid out all my hard earned on a KR1S it was at that point I realised that it is possible to corner at speed without a visit to the local A&E !
PS I can remember hacking the original pipes open and removing the washers and welding back up - it never worked right again until I bought another pipe !

Re: CRM's - The current fleet (not 56k)
I too had a phase of yoof on 350lc's and powervalves (as most of us have) and the first taste of handling for me was a 1KT TZR250 i bought new in 1990, then after that i went down the ZZR400 route with part worn MEZ3's and discovered the joys of sparks and centrestands. next stop was a NC30 in 1997 and here we are today, as most of us, do full circle with the superbike / scare you silly before coming back home to a 400.
Yes the rubber framed 125LC, i am lucky i am on aftermarket tyres which are sort of ok (rear shocks lack of damping masks the rock hard tyres)
what you running on yours ? normal kit of the day was either swallow hedgefinders, or avon deathmasters
So where are you based ? i am in cheshire and i fear the run to wales being only 40 miles was enough. my arse was dead, but worse still was the fact i was seeing double and it took the rest of the day for my hand to wake up again from the vibes from the bars. tbh putting 40 PSI in each tyre helped with the speed, but prob accounted why it bounced around corners like a cheap football

Re: CRM's - The current fleet (not 56k)
I remember the Avon's following perhaps my third or fourth excursion into the roadside undergrowth I ended up fitting a set of bridgestones battlaxe's the more expensive softer version
These are now rock hard and so equivalent to the Avons they replaced
I've always been into the two strokes KR's LC's RGV's etc etc 4 years ago I bought a sorry looking ZXR400 outta my friends garage and never looked at another, have NC29, NC30's, and the same ZXR still, I've rode larger bikes but I am only little and on derbyshire roads so long as were not drag racing the 400's are fast enough to annoy my friends so I'm happy for now, just building up another NC30 this time for track only.
The sad part is I get almost an equal amount of enjoyment out of building them as I do riding them !
I'm derbyshire based so not too far - definately have to get it going and put some sort of tax/test on it - snake pass or cat and fiddle LC meet would be interesting !

W O W
Nice collection, I'd love to have the RC30 and NC30 side by side in my garage!
Amazing job on the 350 to... what a difference!
Muchly jealous.

Ta Rich, cant take credit for the 350 desmo though, it was all my dads doing, but you think thats nice, you want to see the 175 and 200 elites he has just finished. much older and rarer still but in the same class and standard of originality as this.
For the RC and NC, jep very lucky, just timed it all well really, owned NC's for over 10 years now, RC more like 6 i think max, bought it before prices went totaly OTT.

Pics..?
I love the classics when they're mint even thou the supersports are the pinnacle of what bikes are all about for me, my gramp has a restored BSA Bantam. which I'm itching for a go on!
Still on my first NC30... just over a year now (I'm only just 21 ...) ...but hope to have a tidy collection someday!

Re: CRM's - The current fleet (not 56k)
that's a very nice collection of bikes.
sorry to see the 916 on the AA truck - I'm currently in the market for a 996 or 998 (must check breakdown cover!) but waiting for "the right one" to come along. Love the YSR - I had one that had only covered 20 miles from new, so it stood as an ornament in the lounge until I decided to shift it on. Also had 3 Suzuki Gag 50's, one of which I modified to take a 120cc pit bike engine. That would hit 65mph, if I could withstand the blurred vision and loose fillings!
Garry.

Re: CRM's - The current fleet (not 56k)
916 has been very good of late, but its about to go another open heart surgery and have its 916 heart ripped out, and a new freshly built blueprinted 996 motor with new box and 3 wire DC system, running dual injectors and P8 ECU (996 SPS spec) setup for pure grunt at the sacrifice of some top end.
no point trying to keep it original anymore, later forks and brakes and ohlins, not to mention the bp subframe and P16 ecu.
