had the bike in a state of......semi stripped down if thats the right description.anyway,i decided i was putting it back on the rd today so i had ordered indicators which came yesterday,that was fine....they came in time for me doing the bike today but they were the wrong ones.....aarrrgggghhhh!!!!i decided they will have to do,so i put the front brake system on the bike which went well...why wouldnt it??????then filled it with brake fluid and carried on with bleeding the system....superb!!!!!eh....no!,front master cylinder is goosed.....no front brakes at all.im jinxed beyond belief,i should have never put the bike off the road,the brakes were working fine.the same happened at the tail end of last year.needed new rear pads,fitted them all was well then nothing........yep,master cylinder.
i suppose its better to look on the bright side of things,just as well it didnt fail when i was approaching a corner at speed!!!!!! not happy

have you got all the air out of the system? it might need more bleeding.

well.......yeah i bled it for ages and seen all the air bubbles going through the tube.......what i might do is bleed it again tomorrow for a long,long and just a little bit longer length of time and see if it makes any difference but to be honest i dont have much faith in it as the lever produces absolutely no firmness at all which is symptoms of a fecked master cylinder. :D

Hiya, my FZR did exactly the same thing. I rebuilt the rear master cylinder which fixed that( using the same seals not new ones) when it stopped working, and when i rebuilt the front calipers they wouldnt bleed and couldnt get any lever pressure, so i took the pipes off drained everything and started again and it bled first time!
Dont give up,it porb not nakered just take your time with it and maybe start from scratch if it wont play!!! lol.
Bike brakes are always a pain not like cars that i've done.

stickshift has obviously got his stick firmly up his arse!!!!!!!

morespeedvicar......i double checked it again today,cleaned everything up and fitted it all together making sure everything was tightened up nice and tight.bled them again until all air bubbles were out of the system and clean new fluid was coming out.but still no firmness what so ever at the lever....absolutely nothing.before i put the bike off the rd the brake lever was starting to get a little bit spongy but i never thought anything of it.

i might have one more try before i buy a rebuild kit or one of ebay,i'll clean everything up just like you done and see if there is any difference.

Have you bled the lines at the m/c as well? just crack them open with pressure ont he lever..

If you are able to pump the fluid out I would be inclined to say that you need to bleed them til they work

Did you strip the calipers at all?

Do you get the lever back to the bars or does it have some resistance, but lots of travel?

As an aside...stickshift knows his arse from a hole in the ground and I would be happy to take advice from him...It is true what he said - bikes, or anything, do not develop issues all by themselves..the IT crew call it user error..but we are not too smartassed! I would also go for the nothing wrong with it line and make sure you bled it right

NC front brakes, notoriusly difficult to bleed, been there.

i just bought a bleed kit off ebay.

in the kit - 2 syringes, big and small
- and some different size length and size pipe

very easy to use and bleed the brakes.

like i said,before i put the bike off the road the lever was starting to feel a bit spongy............when the internal parts off the m/c are goosed fluid can bypass and still go through hence why im still getting fluid at the bleed nipples.

there is no resistance at all at the lever.....it travels all the way to the bar and it never gets any firmer at all.the same thing happened to the rear brake and when i replaced the master cylinder all was well.

as for the stickshift i aint saying he doesnt know what he is talking about but ive bled them twice now for a reasonable length of time and still no luck,ive also used the old calipers and ones i bought but still no difference.and like i said the lever was starting to feel spongy.........also when the rear brake went it just happened.......sods law...lol!!!!!!
