battery keeps going flat bike dies

Post by bikerbiffo » Mon May 11, 2009 7:59 pm

hi got a problem with my sons 1993 super four
charge battery but keeps going flat..how do it test the regulator/rectifier ? what output should it put out
theres no rise in current when engine running
does any one have a wiring circuit for this bike.?that i could copy.
will any honda rectifiers work?
or is there any dodgy faultys on this model..or will i have to bite the bullet for a new rectifier

cheers
martin :(

Use the link below to download the fault finding guide.... run the test and should find what's wrong in about 20 mins

thanks for the advice

even dowm
nloaded a cb1 manual with fault finding info aswell

so far my testing has resulted in a short circuit of the negative side of rectifier..(a diodes gone down)

looking to replace this but boy do they know how to charge for a rectifier..

will look around and try and get one cheaper than the 70 quid quoted on ebay.
loooks like numerous bikes fit.including cb500's cbr600,fireblades
so should be plenty available..

thanks again
martin

hi .
priced the maplin route
cost of £4 for the large diodes required..but needed to go to 2 shops for them..that was plan c
plan a this morning got up and went to bmf and rumaged on the auto jumble..
got one off a cbr600(1999. £20..then continued to rumage and got one off a cb1 for £5..
the cb1 isn't the correct number but it's ok for a spare
..fitted to bike as soon as got home..works fine..

there were a couple of complete sf400 exhaust systems on there but no body work ..

so sorted..
thanks for the replies and advice this is much apreciated
