NC on a diet

Post by RonniB »

The HRC axle is one of the latest additions

This is one of the most rewarding bikes to tinker on, many of you will of course know that already, 6 years on, I'm still "in love"

spike16, thank you and yes, more pics and tech will come, in that pic you got axle from Michael (to answer you CMSMJ1), Durbahn alloy rear disc, all titanium fastners and you just see the adjustable linkage (I will post better pic Spike and elabourate on clearance issues)

for now, the wet weight is fixed at around 163kg, 51,5% on rear sadly. But that will change

It's actually 17grams heavier at 347gr, but is more or less a straigth copy of the original design meaning that it could go lighter if machined a bit, but I would buy the BMC one if I had to now, cheaper, lighter og made of steel (the alloy will only take one hard application, then its toast) what is not to like.

This is how it basicly still looks, PVM front added (1.2kgs less), new exhaust hanger and other little things have changed.

Image

This a better view of the linkage tie rod, just a plate welded to a rose joint, but the spacer in between is critical to get right.

New home for most of the electrics, battery, ignition, fuse and starter relay is going to be here on the right side of the engine. Having a LiFe battery really helps or it would nigh on impossible. The entire loom is being redone from new cable, new connectors (waterproof) and new things like fusebox and starter relay.

This little thing of beauty is along with stack instrument, GSXR generator, carbon front subframe and one of Rick's upper rads going to be installed in the next months (but to be fair, the ISR caliper is last on the list, as its actually a winter project for 09/10). Other than that, engine casings will be glassbead blasted and repainted, bolts will replaced with alloy ones and a few more brackets will be redesigned and made from lighter materials (alloy or carbon).

Dude, that ISR rear caliper is sexual. Where the hell do you get those badboys?

Best bet would be from jap4performance.co.uk they sell ISR products, but the caliper hanger you will need to have made up yourself (the one in the picture isn't for a NC). That makes it quite expensive and tends to put off people from doing it...
