Re: False speedo readout
if you have MPH speedo face fitted, the manual converter is NO GOOD. you need to:-
a) replace the faces with KPH ones, then fit the manual converter
b) get the speedo needle back to its right place on the MPH faces.

Re: False speedo readout
I dont really want KPH clocks with tiny MPH numbers to be honest, id rather find a solution to be able to keep my shiney white MPH clocks with their big fat lettering, less having to concentrate on where the needle is facing when trying to stick to the smorgasboard of varying speed limits in my area :D
As it is, i rotated the face a little to compensate for the apparent 10mph difference, remains to be tested against another bike / car sometime later and see whats what.
Would help if i knew what a mechanical converter for these bikes looked like so i could see if i have one already, in the dark a bit right now
EDIT: found i need the top of cable converter and now know what it looks like, and i dont have one, so i will see the previous owner for the old clock faces if he has them and get a converter.
He reckons he had 130mph out of it once so it might be derestricted another way, but im not too concerned about top end, so long as restriction doesnt affect me within the legal limits

Normal price is £35. You've seen what they look like now?

Re: False speedo readout
If you are taking the speedo apart then remove the little disc that the needle triggers for the restricton. Also put your needle back on the righ spot and you should be rocking.

Re: False speedo readout
ok.. does anyone know *IF* the NC23 speedo face is the SAME speed increments as the NC29 one?
if so... i have white/custom NC29 speedo/clock faces that you can make your self. so long as you have a lazer printer and a laminator!

Re: False speedo readout
Tested the clock again today, its still out and i cant adjust it anymore so over the weekend, nagging mrs allowing, i will get the clocks apart again and see about putting the needle on correctly, i can only assume there is some kind of recoil spring that resets the needle to zero on idle and that it has been put on too tight, or the other way round, will find out.
I might bite the bullet and locate some original clockfaces for the bike and suffer the eery blackness, least i will know the incrementation will be right and i can set the needle accordingly.

Re: False speedo readout
i have templates to make your own clock faces.
BUT .. they are for the NC29....
i do not know if the NC23 has the same increments as the NC29?
IF SO... i can send you the template to print off and just slot over the ones you have now.

Re: False speedo readout
Thanks for the offer, appreciated :)
From what i can tell, from looking at quite a few pics of the clockface on ebay and google images, the increment alignment against various parts of the clock casing appears to be identical to what i have already, the only difference is that MPH is in bold and KPH in small, so i think it narrows the problem down to the actual needle not being installed properly when the faces were changed over.
Correct me if im wrong but the speed converter is designed for KPH clocks without MPH readings to show MPH speeds using the KPH markings ?
i.e the speed of the cable is increased so that, for example, 50kph is actually 50mph
If that is indeed the case and i can get the needle sat right, i wont need a converter and will be able to derestrict another way, i believe.

Correct, hence:Zaz wrote:Correct me if im wrong but the speed converter is designed for KPH clocks without MPH readings to show MPH speeds using the KPH markings ?

Cable rotational speed is decreased, but yes.Zaz wrote:i.e the speed of the cable is increased so that, for example, 50kph is actually 50mph
