IMPORTING BIKES (HOW?)
me and my friend were just looking on goobike. Its a Japenese site (translate to English). There are loads of VFR 400's on there. Some have only done about 5,000km and are mint but does any1 know how to import bike or how much it costs? cheers

really not worth doing at moment with cost of the yen , i used to import lots of car evo's and the like but just not worth doing
bikes are harder than car as they want them to be containered
rule of thumb is
you add cost you paid in japan and shipping cost
at 10% import duty
then the total of that is subjected to vat
plus clearance fee
then first registration fee from dvla

Commercially its not viable anymore as already been said but if your after a one off low mileage bike it might be worth doing. Bikes almost always need to be crated before somone will bring them over.
Get in touch with DK motorbikes, they import a lot of bikes from Japan, they may be able to help you.
