NC30 Radiator Fan / Electric Motor

Post by ian_r_young » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:49 pm

Hi all,

New to this forum so I hope I've not posted this in the wrong area, but I am after a cooling fan for the bottom radiator for a 92 VFR400R NC30 mine has ceized up and blown the fan fuse :violin: .

Does anyone have a working one for sale ? Or know of somewhere I could get one, so far I tried a selection of breakers but no joy and David Silvers is charging over 260 quid.

Hi Ian, and welcome to the forum.

Any ideas why its seized? A mate of mine had a stone jammed in his rad fan and that was causing the fuse to blow. Once we took the stone out, it was fine.

You might be lucky and its a simple fix.

Hello & welcome aboard!
Ebay is a good place to look for parts, or you might get lucky on here...

Cheers guys, will be checking exactly what is stopping the fan turning, so far not been able to find any fans on ebay so far, but will keep looking around. Hoping someone on here will have one, maybe a breaker.

Hey mate, why not just stick a wanted ad up in the for sale /wanted section? That's the easiest way to get one methinks.

Hiya, the fan on mine was sticking, as i found out when i put the fuse back in the previous owner had taken out, try taking it off and rebuilding it. mine was slighty bent so was causing the armature to drag, was easily fixed. It may of just siezed up if it not been used for ages.

Cheers
Ian

Hi all sorry for not finalising this post, I finally got a new fan and radiator incidentally from fastline in preston. I think that lot plus a regulator from an NC30 they were breaking only cost be about £35.

So I cleaned up the fan, sanded down its surround and re-sprayed it, did the same for the radiator then got them fitted and they look pretty much like new.

The bike still is quite warm, but I think it usually stays around 90 which apparently is normal.
