I would go for the filter mate. The smoking is not cool..but then a 20yr old moto could well be in need of a refresh.
I also note that the air fuel graph is for only a pair of cylinders (front?) as you have the stacks on the moto.
Get a clean filter, get a run, if too rich - whip the lid off and retry...you might find it working lovely..just like my setup that runs 130 mains and no lid.

Out on NC35 carbs to lean offWaza4 wrote:Probably washing the bores. You've got to go smaller on mains .vfrman wrote:Dude, something doesn't look right there. You shouldn't have all that smoke when you roll off the throttle. That isn't burning oil is it?
And the pilots need to come outwards not inwards.

It's got to be the filter mate and I suspect the reason for the smoking is just because there's a load of unburnt fuel being sucked through on the over run. Mine used to do the same thing when mine was running rich. It's always possible it may be the valve stem seals but for the ballache it is to replace them I'd let it be if you can't cure it by getting the jetting right. Just pretent you bought Gareths TDM and it's normal to burn oil

to be honest i haven't seen the oil level change so i don't think it's burning oil and i knew the filter was bad so i think (hope) the smoking is just the unburnt fuel and was really surprised to see there was no fires on the dyno, normally when you out on the road and get a bit of pace behind you you can launch fires out the top can,so i think it's just unburnt fuel.
i'll get a new filter from rick and take it to a dyno operator i know who knows his business and i'll take it from there

Re: whats your opinions on my dyno graph ?,now with video..
i backed in the A/F screws a 1/4 turn so they are now at 2.25 turns out and it's made a bit of a difference but i think the biggest difference has came with the carbs being balanced again,i used Rick O's method and it definately idles better and pulls better through the gears so just need the new filter off him and i'll go bother my local dyno operator.
but more updates to come ...
