If it aint broke, dont fix it.

Thats my thought. Ive never had any overheating problems with my VFRs in standard trim, so I don't beleive it will be of any real advantage to do so. There may be some minimal power gains and perhaps some ambient heat loss.

My other thought is this, the heat wrap doesn't magically remove any heat, it just channels it elsewhere IE, backwards towards the shock and back in to the block, so could actually be increasing the load put on the coolign system!

unless your a hardcore racer, I don't beleive it woudl be of any real benefit!

So if we were to be scientific about it,.....

For those who feel it would make the job of the cooling system harder the results of getting a digital temp sensor plumbed in would be

Lower Inside Fairing Temps
Higher Average Coolant Temperature

If those who believe it would be of benefit are right (and lets face it - with racers, rally teams and race teams doing it there has to be something in it)

We have:

Lower Inside Fairing Temps
Lower Average Coolant Temperature
Less Toasty Crotch
Healthier Shocks

Finally unless the fibreglass heat wrap has a property to it that reflects heat rather than absorbing it, it would not be channeling heat back into anything.

I actually think that for a road bike this makes an awful amount of sense rather than just for hardcore racers for the reason that many of us are going to go from (for example) 70+ mph back into a village/town/traffic if they use it alot.

That will mean the hot exhaust system is going to be sat there with nothing much blowing on it, warming anything nearby. Preventing this at slow to stationary sounds like good thinking.

cheers
I'm sure that with a fibrous outer surface air contact would cool some to, even doubling the surface area a bit, though also that if headers and collector were wrapped this would keep heat from the large crank and gearbox, helping to keep that cooling too.
i think maybe that keeping the heat in the exhaust may cause havoc with the feet !
but might help to keep constant shape, due to restriction and expansion, for tuning purposes, ego sensor relevant, and looks sporty
further incorporated design solutions discussed by me, and other, a few years back would help to balance exhaust port side cooling. some bikes use finned header clamps

I'm sorry to say this, but I find many of your theories on exhaust wrapping almost as peculiar as your treatment of the English language. Please try a bit harder on the spelling and explanation, because the above simply translates into gibberish.
