First Observations of new NC42
Well, I picked the new bike up last Saturday and I'm forced to keep the revs low during the running-in period, so there's no "fun" to report
My first impression is WOW, this thing is tiny!! Can't believe how physically small it is. Good job I've got little legs :-)
Next thing I noticed was how badly the gear-lever needs adjusting. It's too high up for me, so I have to REALLY contort my foot to pull the lever up to change up a gear. And when changing down, it's even worse. Just altered it by undoing the locknuts and turning the long rod - it's fine now.
The brakes - another WOW!!! Those front brakes are amazingly good! They really haul you to a quick stop!
The seat? Hard as teak! Boy, that thing very quickly starts to numb your bum! I think I'll have to send it off for some resculpting and a gel-pack. Guess I'm used to the comfy seats of bigger bikes. This one's like sitting on a bicyclye seat :D
Once I get that first service done, I can start to build up those revs and have a day riding around like a screaming banshee! Especially when that BlueFlame exhaust arrives.

Looks great, and very individual, I imagine you must be one of the only people in the country with a brand new SF?

Re: First Observations of new NC42
Thank guys. Apparently, there are actually 8 in the UK, but that still makes it a very exclusive kinda bike! I went out on it again tonight and must admit that I found it kinda "twitchy" but that's no doubt because I'm used to the mammoth MT-01. I just love Honda 400's!!
BlueFlame are collecting the bike next Wednesday to design a link pipe for the bike so that their twin-port titanium pipe fits. They'll return it on Thursday, so I'm very much looking forward to that!

More pictures please!
One thing that I find fairly amazing is this bike still uses the same basic bottom end (I think) as the original NC23 from 1988.
Is the alloy swingarm new? Adjusters look different.
Which tyres do Honda fit standard, and what sizes?
How are you getting on with the Fi?

Wow, that sounds brilliant (and also pricey :D ), how did you get them to agree to that or will they design link pipes for any particular bike??MadDogMcQ wrote: BlueFlame are collecting the bike next Wednesday to design a link pipe for the bike so that their twin-port titanium pipe fits. Re: First Observations of new NC42
I'll post some more pix after this weekend. When I rang BlueFlame to order a can, they told me that they already made them for the Super BolD'or and sold them regularly to the Singapore market, so I ordered one.
The next day I sent them a photo of my existing exhaust to make 100% sure that they realised it was a "slip-on" and NOT a "bolt-on" silencer.
At that point, they contacted me to admit they'd got it wrong and offered to either refund me or collect the bike and tailor-make a link pipe. So I chose the latter :)
As for tyres, they come with Bridgestone BT50's which are pretty good tyres like the BT14's. Sizes are 120/60-17 front and 160/60-17 rear.
Fuel injection is as good as anything else I've ridden including the CBF1000 and the CBR600RR and BETTER than the VFR800.
