Jolts when shifting into first gear

Post by Sir Choice »

Hi guys, just a quick question.

When i start my bike and put it into first gear it jolts forward. Is this ok? or does it mean theres a problem with the clutch or something? and when i put it in first before riding the idle goes down even with the clutch in? is it not disengaging the clutch fully ?
Thanks!

Most NC30s make a pretty loud clank and a slight jolt when engaging 1st.. A small amount of drag is normal especially when the oil is cold.. Try pushing the bike in 1st with clutch in, you can judge the drag from this

Believe it or not..ALL HOndas are famous for it. As stated above, ensure chain is correctly tensioned ( and cush rubbers
are OK ) and than you are using 10 - 40 oil. If all those are OK..then bike is sound :-)

Adjusting your clutch cable tension may reduce the jolt, more tension for better clutch disengagement, tho too tight and it will slip even when clutch is fully released

does the VFR have cush rubbers? i was under the impression it does not, unless they are some understated ones?

No cush rubbers on NC30 or Nc35.
