Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
All this talk of money eh? This is all done on the cheap :D
Anyways... some more updates on the moto.
I forgot to take a latest pc so will go get one in a bit... BUt is now has subframe, bars, clocks etc - Am going to fit the loom when I have some patience and then look at rads and carbs.
Am feeling pretty cool with this bike at the minute as the progress is not too shabby at all. I have not yet come to a point where I am missing something fundamental to the build (apart from losing my 41 and 46mm sockets - they must be in hiding together.
)
I stripped down a set of NC24 carbs last night to check the slides and needles in them -
They were scabby as hell

but the diaphragms were peachy.

NC24 on the left, NC30 on the right

115,35 jets all round too. Added to my stash - also the same emulsion tubes as the NC30 I think - 5 hole and 4 hole pairs.

My NC30 carbs are half done..it got too cold and boring in the garage last night..lol
Whatis the crack witht he needles in these cabrs - 8ZC < I know the taper is prob on the leanest sde but they are related to the HRC needles which are 8ZH, J and K - that right HRC gurus?
I am fitting 135 mains to the NC30 carbs and the std needles for now as I want it to start and run before I get mental swapping and changing stuff. The NC24 slides and the Bakudan nedles and jets will go in my second set of carbs which are the ones I will be tuning for racing.
So..there we have it.. it is coming along slowly.

WOW, those bowls are in serious need of treatment, good job you won't be using them. Great result with the slides though.

Yeah they look very similar to the nc30 hrc ones. I haven't measured them against the hrc needles but I doubt they're very much different.CMSMJ1 wrote: Whatis the crack witht he needles in these cabrs - 8ZC < I know the taper is prob on the leanest sde but they are related to the HRC needles which are 8ZH, J and K
Length is the same from memory, and diameter is the same as one of the hrc ones, only the taper might differ.
My bro was in the process of measuring nc24 needles against all the hrc ones, will see what he's up to.

They are pretty pukka looking carbs there Hunter. Mine have not had the grinding and chopping activity as yet. Been a busy mofo.
However, we got a subframe, clipons, loom and other gubbins on so slowly getting there.
The law of diminishing returns is getting on my tits as it seems I have lots of fiddly stuff to do before I start this bad lad up..if it starts at all.lol

Have a plan for getting my rads on, carbs on and the rest of the controls - throttle, switches etc. The button press will be soon enough and I hope it works..! You will hear it here first

ps bike looks great, o and whats special about the carbs? is it the minimalistic brackets?

Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
It will be chopped, just not yet! Main priority is to get this motor running and then go from there. I am not more than 50% sure that it will run OK as I have never heard it running and so if it is knackered then I need another motor and I have not got time or the strength to be honest with that!!
Carbs wise..if Mr Scott has had his V4 guru hands on them you can bet that there are more tweaks to them than the chopped carb tray. Saying that, the tray being chopped answered the question that we were asking in another thread. Was it for airflow or weight?
Weight I reckon...
