Help...carb removal
Hi All,
So the NC30 still wont start...New fuel. done.....Charged battery. done...Check spark...?? Back two only
I need your help.. I have to remove the carb to check the front two plugs. While the carbs off I might aswell clean it out but I've got a couple of questions
I removed the tank...
Disconnection the choke...
Romoved the first throttle linkage (top one)....
1) How can I get to the second throttle linkage ?
2) Is there a specific screw driver needed to remove the carb hose clips? (maybe long T screw drive) ?
2 and a half) Is there anything else I need to disconnect?
3) If I take it off and find the rubbers are degraded where can I get new ones?
4) When I clean the carb is there a recommended cleaner?
5) Where can I get new carb gaskets?
Any help you can give would be great...those haynes manuels are a mine field.
Thanks

1. With tiny tiny hands and a 10mm spanner .
2. A very long posidrive one.
2.5. Need to disconnect the idle adjust screw
3. Graeme France or Rick Oliver, both members on here.
4. Every one will disagree on this or have their favouites.
5. See answer 3.
And remember , carbs will come off a feck of a sight easier than they'll go on.
Good luck!

Why? You can move the top rad just forward enough to get access to the front plugs! Place a bit of card board behind the rad to protect its fins (and your knucles) while you get the plugs out! :)Big Dave 79 wrote:...I have to remove the carb to check the front two plugs...
I'd go along with what mick.mh2racing said too!

I agree with all the above.
Putting the carbs back on can be fiddly the first couple of times, this is what Honda recommends:

When you put the carbs back on i found a small bit of silicon grease around the stacks aids the replacement as the carbs should slip into place easier, also a long flat screw driver is handy incase the rubbers fold up abit to help free them up.
I remember it took a good few attempts to get them back on.
2 minutes to take off, 2 hours (+ tears, swearing, etc) to get them back on.

My best time to remove carbs from a fully faired race bike, change jets and put them back on is 18 minutes!
Was last on the grid for the start of the race.... oh and it ran great!

get some carb rubbers off Rick o or ebay there cheap enough. Top tip dont buy an hrc cold air tray... if you do be prepared to spend a good 2 hour just trying to get to the carb rubbers :)

i fully agree with that one.Stickshift wrote:

just don't forget to unscrew the idle screw, i forgot it once with bad consequences!!
as regards to putting them back on, nice warm conditions help, or at least heat the carb rubbers, and as said a dab of lube.
put the front carbs in first and then lever in the back one, making sure to have a screwdriver handy to make sure the rubbers do not fold in on themselves.
the best thing is to attempt is yourself and all these helpful tips will make sense.

First time i did it it took me about a week to get them back on! Seriously it did. Kept trying and trying and after skinning knuckles I'd walk away and try again the next day until finally it clicked.
