K&N Part No. for 3TJ Stage 3 Dynojet kit?
Does anyone know the correct K&N part no. for a stage 3 jet kit for a set of 3TJ carbs?
K&N only list one kit for FZR400 88-90, which sounds pre-3TJ to me....
As Pre-3TJ's had different carbs, I can't imagine that it's one stage 3 kit for all models.
Thanks.

hmmm, Sorry evil.. what do you mean there?
- to help, I'm using 3TJ pipercross pod filters that I bought last week (as due to the thunder-cat tank, the airbox won't fit), (the bikes not running yet, but I'm certain I'd need the equivalent of a stage 3 dynojet kit to ensure they run correctly.

Ahhh I thought you meant a K+N filter in a 3TJ airbox.
Um, well the rest of the engine is standard and I thinkyou used a staight through pipe ... so at a guess ... um ... go up probably one jet size, but have a set ready to go up two sizes, (This might not be to bad as the centre are a different size to the outters). You'll need to dyno it to find out and properly tune the mixture.
I remember you fitting the T'cat tank - how difficult was it ???

Re: K&N Part No. for 3TJ Stage 3 Dynojet kit?
Cool, thanks for that. I think I'll just dump it on Steve at Motrac racing - he's done my mates race bikes for a few years and I've heard good things about his work and prices. If it was an off the shelf kit, I'd go for it, but I think by then I'll be looking to get on the road asap so I'll probably just stump up for the dyno-time. The plugs holes are not top notch on the cylinder head either, so I don't fancy doing a million plug chops and potentially threading the holes.
I recently stuck a different carb and a pod filter on a single cylinder KZ250 and it took about 3 weeks of changing various jets from Wemoto on the carbs to hit the correct settings.... I've pretty much had my fill of that for a while :)
The T,Cat tank wasn't too bad first time around after I'd line up the seat and R6 tail. I'd made a mounting plate that used part of the original T'Cat mounting brackets off of the back of the headstock (where their are mounting points for the radiator filler cap bracket etc).
Later on, I found that those holes were for the filler cap bracket, so I trashed the first set of mounting plates I'd made to allow me to fit the filler cap/neck and bracket in place.
After that, I found that the standard filler cap position fouled on the underside of the T'Cat tank. So I made an offset plate to move the filler cap mounting point back about an inch and half.
I then refitted the original FZR front tank cover mounting bracket. I made two metal arms in a V shape (braced in the middle to form a letter A) that came out the front of the tank by the head stock to let me secure it to the standard FZR fake cover mounting tabs. The filler cap now sits in the little diamond hole in the middle of the A bracket.
The rear of the tank is bolted to a metal plate that I fitted across the frame over the top of where the battery normally mounts.
Since then, I've found that I need to shorten the 3TJ carb's idle screw as that also fouls on the lower fuel compartment on the underside of the T'Cat tank.
Due to the plate over the top of the battery area to bolt the R6 seat and T'Cat tank to, I can't fit the battery box on top of the shock mount anymore as it's too tall.
...so I purchased something like a YTX14-LB battery (can't remember the exact part code off the top of my head but county batteries recommended it for angle mounting) as the acid turns to gel a while after filling. I now need to make a plate across the bottom of the modified FZR subframe, so I can fit the battery box at an inclined angle to keep everything neat. The gel battery is wider (slightly) than the stock FZR job, so I need to make a custom battery box to bolt to the plate on the sub-frame.... or cut and plastex the standard battery box to make it wider.
I'll need some custom water system hoses as the lengths are all different now... I've got some cheap silicon crap for testing but a Samco copy medium-term would stop it burning through if it touches the rad.
Loads of other stuff... but it's starting to look like a bike.
The 3TJ rear is fully fitted now and all in place perfectly and aligned. - What's your take on the two different width swingarms for older and later 3EN2's 22.7/8 and 23cm - do you have any clues on this over and above the fact that I can vouch that they exist?
Put new plugs in this week and I need Venhill to make a bespoke throttle cable that has 3TJ fittings, but is the length of the 3EN2 cable... but it's all taking shape!
I'll try and update the website pictures I linked to a while ago with the latest images during the next few nights.

lol.... following the above.... I fitted my 3TJ race rad today and I've re-routed the hoses so I'm using the rads built in cap and overflow and ditched the remote filler cap that caused me all the work re-mounting the T'Cat tank. It's all a laugh!
