Radiator options for FZR400 3en2? CBR600?, brackets.. ETC

Post by uniquefzrfreak »

Does anyone have any easy bolt on radiator options for the 3EN2? I've seen some people mention using CBR600 rads on 4/6 builds, unsure what model though f2, f3 etc?

Plus any info on bracket mods to accommodate alt rads would be great. If anyone has a compatible dual core ally race rad going, I may be interested if £140 or less delivered?

I have a GSXR750 (I think) standard rad that is concaved and tapers off at one end, but it's friggin massive and I'd need vastly extended hoses etc (although I know with any non standard rad I'll need custom hoses). I don't have a standard rad and fan at the moment, so I'm not simply trying to complicate things for the sake of it, but If I can get something better than standard or something that just works well and is an easy fit for a good price that's tried and tested, I'd be interested.

Let me know if you have the standard brackets, rad and fan for a good price? - as clearly that would be the easiest option. But an ally dual core bargain (with a free holy grail) would be nice too!

TIA

Probably a Fazer rad would bolt straight in.

You only need a fancy or bigger rad if your engine is going to put out more heat, otherwise it will just run cold and that's not good for the engine, (cold metal has wider tollerances).
As you don't have bodywork your engine will run cooler than usual anyway.

That's a very good point I'd not thought of. And now you mention it, I had to mask off the top of a rad on an old GPZ where I fitted a bigger flash rad, because the bike didn't warm up quick enough to run the 3 miles to my work and back properly. I'd forgot about that.

Just spent this months mortgage payment on Nellie's single core 3TJ race rad.... guess I'll be fabbing some brackets soon. Cheers Nel, that's solved a problem in style.
