Alternator gasket removal

Post by mattUKNC » Sun Jan 18, 2009 6:26 pm

Hi All,
Changing the alternator this weekend, I've come to remove the old gasket and it's rather solid and not really wanting to come off!
I saw another post in the CBR section about gasket scrapers and wet and dry, just wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?!

It's soaking in warm water at the moment...

:D

Also if lying around a wallpaper will do the job also.

Is this a mod you are doing alone Mat or this the thing I remember reading on Gforce's blog?

A little bit of nitro mors applied using an artists brush, being very careful not to get it on anything. I tried it, it softened the gasket and made it easier to scrape with a stanley blade.
