Another NC30 electrical issue

Post by Maj » Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:12 pm

Heres my issue,i seek the knowledge of the blessed NC30 guru's....PLZ

got my bike 2 months ago, cleaned and reset the carbs, bought a new battery.
bike was runnin fine.
Now,while riding ,the bike misfires at around 6000rpm and agen at 10000rpm.
Was advised that the rectifier needed to be replaced.

After havin replaced this, bike now misfires only around 10000rpm with lights on,but without lights it rides perfectly.
checked the charging, its perfect on idle 14.3 volts, but when revs up the charges shifts up to around 15volts.
What can this be,how can i fix it??

It is supposed to be approx 14.5v when revved at 5000 revs.

I would check the plugs and wiring for any signs of charring. If the reg rec has already gone pop then some of the wiring might be nasty too..

main one is the large white plug by your right knee (under the infill) this is form the generator and normally burns out along with the reg/rec.

have a look at that and see how it looks. If you can, get a haynes, or dl the service manual from Harkermatic website to look at the electricla fault finding stuff.

Or..do a search on here for reg rec and all your answers will be there.

Welcome to the site too btw - stick about and have a good read..lots of info on here!

hello-

the charge rate @5000rpm should be between 13.5-15volts so it is within the limits, but like cmsmj1 say's it is usually 14.5 or slightly below.but it is still within the specified range

just check all connections for any signs of being burnt out, also check the output of the alternator!!!
