engine upgrade ideas -anything tried successfully

Post by Vzzzbuxt »

im not after putting a rvf engine in.

talking more like a vfr750 (the earlier and 'sportier' vfr750 lumps should be easier than the newer version,...though could still be a pig!)

if not a v4, how about a pokey 2t engine, or a big parallel or v-twin???

anyone tried or seen any of these successfully done? in not looking at doing anything...YET, see how things go with the viffer400 in there at the minute as its running slick at the minute.

its not a race, okay?... READY-STEADY-GO! ;)

there was someone who put an sv motor in an rvf, he's the same bloke who put a 900 fireblade engine in this fzr 400, now he's planning a single sided front end for it too, he's and amazing engineer

Fitting a larger V4 is near on impossible.

I would personally go for a fire breathing TL1000s engine.

As said previously, it's nigh on impossible to fit a bigger V4 engine into the VFR frame.

But...

as for engine suggestions.

If you have a search on the old 400gb forum there`s a thread on there from a guy who was fitting an RG500 Gamma engine into an NC30 chassis...

Interesting....

Say it is possible to squeeze a big v-twin 1000c (TL,SV,etc?) into the NC frame, are there any reasons why it shouldn't be done?

Can the frame & drive system take the extra power? (chain/sprocket upgrade required?)
Are these v-twins heavier or lighter than the 400cc V4?
Is handling going to be adversely affected? (can't see why it would be other than the power delivery differences)
Will the V4 Gods smite me down for changing the engine? :o
