@ SPike - there are loads of things you can do to your bike that should be sorted before you race it. YOu can also sticka thread on it as it is good to see how people approach work ont he bikes and we are all different.
i.e - fork rebuild, rear hub clean out and foam fill, valve clearances, intake mods, gearing testing and mods - is a 520 worth it? your DIY Clipons, the chopped up and polished top yoke ;) Know what I mean?

@ Giff - nothing paid fo and entered yet.. but the plan is to do Cadwell, Oulton, Mallory and possibly Donny..

Three with DP and maybe 2 with EMRA. ates to be decided.

My planning is to shake the bike down asap at a probable two day TD at Cadwell in March. decide fomr there where to go and then spend spend spend on my entries..

@ Landy - Yeah, I know of Mat and nearly got that bike myself ;) Seeing as you are not a million miles away it wold be good to come and have a look aboutthe moto and have a brew - if we go to the same races then some transport savings might be made between us?

Overall - am still waiting on a shim to finish the engine and make it run. Once it runs with std pipes, airbox and carbs then it is being stripped again to have the rear head valves lapped in and quietening gears removed. bit of intake flash removal too that I will get some better before and after pics off. I have a lead on a gixer shock and seeing as I am going to run a 3ah battery I will be chopping the battery box up for it.

Bodywork sorted shortly too ;)

To come - fork rebuild and setup fettling. I need an adjuster still..anyone?

Anyways, thanks for the encouragment everyone - I will get it sorted out and you can see it going at some of the 400gb TD we have this year...unless I bring no9 which is also about to get some TLC and may warrant a CMSMJ1 members bikes thread all to itself..lol

main thing.... if the motor is fecked..anyone got a cheap one for me..lol :poke:

CMSMJ1,
Yeah the race bike i bought off mat is a very well put together bit of kit, Ive got the bike down in london at the min with work because i get alot of down time so get to work on it in a decent garage instead of my freezing shed lol, Im more than happy to give you a hand getting to tracks mate if were going the same way, Im going with Derby phoenix this year. Ill be at Cadwell on the 16th of this month for abit of a shakedown test as well if u've booked (focused events).

As for the spare bike, Yesterday i managed to get the frame, swingarm, rear shock and pivot in place but after having a look at the spare engines ill be lucky to make a decent one from the two so im going to start stripping the most complete one down and make sure every thing is in order before i stick it together only to find out its shagged  So it might take me a while to get my wet bike done but ill make sure i start a thread tomorrow and people can at least laugh at my mechanical inexperience  But i dont give a shit lol theres enough advise on here and ive got all the time in the world for trial and error :D

Looking good, can you give away any more detail on that rear shock?

Chris.

OK - yep,we have a few more updates on this - mainly involving taking the thing to pieces.. The new cylinder head would not bolt up to the frame and as I have a spare one then I will swap them over. The original cylinder head was cracked off in a crash and so I can imagine that the frame mounts would be tweaked slightly.

So... stripped it some more...

Frame unbolted and trying to get the bugger off the engine...ballache

As you can see..the lovely stand I was putting the motor onto had collapsed..PAIN IN THE ARSE!

Image

As I am Jonny Hardcore I picked the motor up and popped it onto the table.. Was easier than it used to be so the pressup challenge is working.lol

I also got my spare carbs and needles, jets and gubbins all together to start a carb stripping and rebuild. I am going to make two sets of carbs - one with the bakudan needles and jets from Cammo/Stickshift (cheers homie) and another "std" large jets and shimmed needles kind of affair.

I am on a small break right now as I need to service the no9 which has been slightly neglected..so going to sort that out.

The new frame is bob on and so next week I will be starting from scratch the rebuild and engine into the frame, forks and shock fitted and the loom, carbs and what not to see if this motor runs or not. If ont..then a trip to Donny to see Geoff and blag a motor of him I think ;)

rock on guys.. :ugeek:
