Re: NC 30 ,, BEST REAR shock you can buy ?????? for race use ???
The usual names would crop up, but specifically made shock for NC30's would be Maxton, Nitron, Hyperpro and Showa. AFAIK, Ohlins never made a specific shock for the '30 but use a modified Fireblade unit. My Hyperpro is overkill for the road with mode adjustments on it that there are days in a month (I think there are nearly 40 odd clicks on high and low speed compression) I've not idea what the other brands offer, but a mate has a Nitron race shock on is RVF and it's a great piece of kit too. As for cost, my Hyper-Pro would set you back around £600, the rest I'd guess will be around the same.
Ducati 916, not worth a carrott

Øhlins TTX shock is THE best, but would need the battery and oem undertray moved (but who would run a 7Ah battery on a race, even endurance, bike. 2.3Ah will do just fine and can be placed almost everywhere).
Nitron, Hyperpro, WP, Penske and all the others with fully CNC'ed body and remote resovoir are all very (equally) good, how good depends on the dealer backup you get, in terms of initial setup, maintaince, spring swaps and revalves (when you get faster, bike gets lighter, get more power etc..)
The øhlins I mentioned is the best in terms of pure technology and design, and a official dealer like KAI's or the like be able to build you one even if øhlins doesn't list it.
The other shocks are all build to the same old DeCarbon design which øhlins pioneered in the 70's, doesn't that they are not good, just an older design. Again you get as good as the dealers knowledge. RLR used Penske on their TT bikes, so they will know a trick or two about those. Nitron is used by many on here and Rick Oliver will be the man to go to.
But how is your front end?? If you get an all singing n' dancing rear shock your std forks will fell shite overnight..
best regards
Ronni (Hyperpro equipped, but would like the øhlins TTX)

Sorry, can't help you with that, since I'm in Denmark. But a Rick Oliver (racetech) cartridge kit should be quite good for your front end.
