nc30 rear end conversions- rvf 17" OR VFR750 17" ??

:scared:

im entertaining the idea, but after your opinions as to which work best,... and a few answers if you would please.

Q. whats the maximum/best tyre you can get on each... i know the vfr750 is a slightly wider rim over the rvf but needs the hub conversion (rick oliver seems the guy todo, reading the forums) and front sprocket spacer to align the chain correctly for tyre clearance etc..

i know about the rear ride height change with a 17" wheel, though didnt someone advise it can made it turn quicker or summit?!? or can be compensated/altered back with a taller shock replacement.. or jackup kit/dog leg kit etc..?

the vfr750 rear does look good on smev's bike, though the rvf is in keeping asthetically with the vfr400 style... hmmmm
its not a race, okay?... READY-STEADY-GO! ;)

I suppose you need to know why you want to do it?

For looks?
For a wider rear tyre!
for a lighter rear wheel?
better tyre choices?

I would be getting an RVF wheel and the RVF dogbones to restore the lost ride height. Easiest way and has the benefits of the tyre choice, looks and guaranteed compatibility

The 5 spoke 750 wheel does look good to...but I think it is an aesthetic upgrade in the main rather than a performance one.

Both will cost about the same, circa £150-200. I was in a similar dilema with and RVF, VFR750, Bros or a Delkekic 17 inch rear. I finally decided upon the RVF rear as it was in keeping with the standard look. I already have the RVF dog-bone in there and an aftermarket shock s it shouldn't really made any handling differences, although my bike's not been ridden in about 6 months and I've no tyres on the rims as they aren't long back from the powdercoaters.

RVF rear FTW

as far as im aware the only lighter rears are dymags, magteks, BST wheels etc

the rvf may be a little bit lighter but not by much, the vfr750 wheel is heavier and so is the ducati 916 and bros wheel

If it's any use to you I have a nice Rvf wheel in black and the Rvf dogbones for sale (which assuming you're in the Uk) which could be at you door for £230.

On the other hand my nc30 has the Rick Oliver 750 conversion fitted and it is a fabulous piece of kit and comes very highly recommended, but as mentioned you lose the standard look of the bike which puts some people off. But then again it doesn't really matter on my bike as to some people my bike doesn't look anything like an nc30 any more.

Mate all you need to do is drill a 10mm (i think) hole in the standard radius arm to restore the lost ride height:
