Im just wondering how many of you guys have this with your NC30's.... i've had 3 of them and 2 have done it.

basically what happens is when you crack the throttle from idle or when moving in gear at low revs... there is a hesitation and slight bogging before the motor picks up. this only happens when at low revs or when say... in top gear travelling slowish and then applying full throttle roll on. whereas on another vehicle it would pick up clean even though revs will climb slow.

the motor seems good condition, pulls hard. have just balanced carbs and it goes harder than my mates NC30 and my previous ones. revs out hard and sounds good. It's just when you crack it open at low revs, there is a bogging. nothing wrong with it though.

any ideas? is it just a normal effect of carburation?

Yeah I've experienced that, I would say it's normal to a certain extent. The nc carbs don't fuel especially well at fine throttle amounts, probably a trade off of sticking big carbs on a small engine.

You might be able to tune some of the effect out, I have on my race bike by using big pilot jets (#40) , fine tuning of pilot screw etc (hrc cdi also goes some way to helping), but that's not something you really want on a road bike.

I doubt that rvf carbs would be as prone to it as nc30 carbs.

yeah that sounds like that case. sounds like throwing too much fuel in... by increasing pilot jet you have leaned out the low rpm range a bit eliminating it?

one thing that just reminded me of... the bikes which didnt do that have been the rvf400, and 89 NC30's... with the different jetting remember?

my bike idles very nicely so im not sure if i wanna fuck with the pilot screw, but having said that... these bikes do smell of fuel at idle don't they! probably some room to lean it out a bit a?

is it possible to get at it without taking off the carbs??
