Any chance the ecu has a burnt aroma emanating from its case, may have suffered over-voltage.

Hopefully mines still medium rare, good idea ive had a little clutch diode randomly fry once and it did stink afterwards, thanks for the suggestion.

Ill get to the bottom of it one day lol.

This bike is a junkyard bike, something failed that sent it there originally, its really good looking these days after the work ive put in, but this fault still eludes. i almost caved and sent it to the shop, but what would be the fun in that.

Thanks, update so far - I sold my VFR for a really great price to a collector (The NC35 sits and gathers dust until I can find time to have another go at it)

So after 4 YEARS of building, my RVF has finally sprung into life. for those interested, the reason it didn't start was:

Thehe little tabs that are at the end of the stacks that plug into the carbs, has snapped off and had fallen into the motor, this was causing problems as it was hitting the valves.
The carb connecting lines were blocked - incorrectly assembled - fuel starvation on some carbs
The ECU did in fact have a faulty ground as I suspected

thank goodness, no major damage, my mechanic who is a pro, noticed a slight resistance when turning the motor by hand and he decided we have to take the heads off. This was done and the little pieces were taken out. Piston tops ok, no major damage.

At the same time, I replaced the valve stem seals while the heads were off.

All put back together and it went onto the Dyno. Then the water pump seal (the internal mechanical one) failed.

So I am now sorting out the water pump and the bike can come home for what I hope is the FINAL assembly.

I have decided to keep this bike, it is simply too beautiful to sell.

I will post some pics once the bike is back home and has its pretty body kit installed.
