Rear brake clip/shim required asap!

Post by 900triple »

Hello,

I'm looking for a rear brake clip/shim for my 1989 NC23 - there wasn't one in the pile of bits (bike) I bought and it looks as if the usual retailers do not have any in stock. Its:

43114-kt7-761

Does anyone know if its actually required - if it is will a secondhand one be okay to use?

Anyone got a spare one?

Cheers, Alan

The rear caliper will work fine without it - never seen one on any of the NC23's or NC27's I've owned (didn't actually know this shim existed until today).

I suspect it only there as an anti squeal shim

It's common to many CBR models and also the venerable CB500.
If you look into the Fowler's website and search that part number it gives a list of other models that it fits.

It's just there to stop the pads wearing a groove into the alloy caliper carrier.

Isn't that shim 43112 KT7 761 that sits on the carrier? That one is essential....
