New exhaust
So, you might be able to put a few things together and see I am giving my RVF a little TLC.
Looking at suspension and also at the exhaust. I'm currently running the OEM stuff and the bike is great. I was able to score a nice JHA SP exhaust online and have it slowly heading towards my direction.
My question to the brain trust here is, I assume I will need to do some rejetting work with the new exhaust but what can I kind of expect when I swap the systems over? Is it going to run horrible or even damage the bike prior jetting?

I'm not 100% sure as I have never opened the carbs up for inspection since purchase but I assume they are completely stock :)

Re: New exhaust
His is an RVF so stock main is 108. Putting in 120f/122r might be a tad too rich unless you mistook it for VFR. I'd start at 110 or 112 on all cylinders and go from there.Drunkn Munky wrote:Whats in there already??? Id just put 120f 122r mains in then put it on the dyno
Nice thing about SP/shotgun stack is you have 2 outlets so you could jet front and rear separately.
To OP: did you win the exhaust from Japan at around 80,000yen mark?

Re: New exhaust
Thanks guys.
Will it be ok to ride around for a bit without the tune?
Yeah, there were two sets for sale recently and I scored one. There is still one set available! They both seem to be selling for a reasonable price compared to other systems out there. I mean a brand new tyga system costs more! (yeah I guess it is brand new...)
kinda exciting cos' when you read the exhaust thread it seems like these are the bees knees and are quite rare BUT here they are!!!

Re: New exhaust
My bike when i first got it had 106 mainjets, cocked up idle jets and valves were way too tight. I since had it serviced, tuned and it's ran without fault for the most part - the engine is a bit noisy but nothing really uncharacteristic about the v4.. these engines are pretty tough.

Good to hear these engines are tough. Kinda what I expect (unfairly) from Honda :)
I'm surprised the other set of pipes have not sold!

Re: New exhaust
Ok. Installing my exhaust and needing some help.
I am so close to the finish line.
The rear set of pipes are leaking. They leak from the end where the flange is held in by a cap/small slip-in extension, I think it's called a collar. I can see hook holes on the exhaust down pipes that seem to suggest that I should get nuts that have rings so I can use a spring to pull the down-pipes towards the engine case and secure the flange and collar as a "sandwich"
Feels like my system is hanging on by 2 springs and it tends to be leaky as well. Are there any alternatives to this?
Or how you did up your system given that the OEM bolts don't have loops for the spring?
