Vfr 400 race bike

Post by rigsby »

Hi,

Its been a while since iv been on this site as iv been racing a suzuki 600 for the last few years, bike previous to that was a cbr 400 nc23. Iv decided to get back on a 400 for next season so have just bought a vfr nc30.
The bike is sort of in race trim but i dont think it was ever completed, anyway to cut a long story short i gave the bike a quick blast around my estate to find out the bike is gutless, it revs out but it just doesn't pull well almost like its restricted. Im hoping there's no underlying serious issues as it runs fine with no noises or burning oil, im hoping it is a jetting issue as someone has definitely been messing. Also have to make sure the speed limiter has been removed though it does have a m max box fitted, is the restriction purely a 113mph limiter or does it have any affect on horse power? Iv started to strip the bike down im going to run total loss ignition and re do the loom to simplify the wiring. I went to do a compression test to put my mind at rest but i haven't got an 8mm hose adapter or a threaded adapter to take the 10mm threaded hose i have down to an 8mm. iv looked on ebay etc and no one is selling them, so has anyone got any ideas were i can get one from, i have a Buzzetti digital tester with a quick release fitting. Will it be a specific honda tool as the nc30 plug size isn't that common so iv heard.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Most people make their own adaptor from an old plug. I have never seen one for sale
