Issues with my NC21/NC24 Engine
Hello all,
Here we go again . . .
My NC21 Engine in my NC24 frame seems to be having some issues.
Before stripping and rebuilding the engine it was a runner. I stripped and cleaned the engine completely. Replacing stem seals, piston rings and Head gasket. I found a cam shaft was about to snap so replaced them with NC24 engine Cam shafts (think this then rendered the cam shaft sensor useless).
The engine wont produce a spark anymore, We have installed an alarm/Immobiliser unit but it is working to allow power to the coils.
When we crank the bike over with a spark plug tester it didnt produce a spark, removed the plug and connected to earth and nothing, No spark.
Got my old NC24 control unit out and matched the wiring colours to the plugs and tried again. Still nothing.
Can anyone help me out please as this is the only thing holding the bike back after this latest rebuild.
Im desperate to get the bike on the road again.
Richard.

I would think the nc24 tci is looking for a pulse from the cam sensor to time cylinder firing, have you got a 21 tci? Neo is the man when it comes to nc24's, so hopefully he'll be along shortly !! lol
Can you try the 24 cam shaft in it just to see if it'll spark?

Re: Issues with my NC21/NC24 Engine
Just to clarify
NC21 Engine with everything except:
NC24 cam shafts.
NC24 does not need a cam shaft sensor but the NC21 did.
If I can find out what wires to change I can get the NC24 CDI unit wired up to fit the bike with the NC21 engine in situ and not have to rebuild a NC24 engine with all the internals from this engine as I spent a lot of time getting this engine rebuild.

So you have a 24 with a 21 engine, do you still have a 24 engine? If so can you just swap the genni and the pick ups over?

Re: Issues with my NC21/NC24 Engine
hmm,
kill switch aside the it sounds like its going to be a wiring issue.
The nc21 ignition box goes behind the battery right and the nc24 sits at the rear of the bike.
easiest way to isolate this would be if you have an nc24 wiring loom and ignition unit you can connect to the enigne.. some of the connections are going to be different though as the neutral switch / pickup coils have a different plug if i remember differently.
i dont think the stock igniton box is going to run without a camshaft signal.
how was your camshaft about to break?
