Another loom is an option but an NC35 loom is not likely to work well on an NC30. Another loom from someone on this forum in the UK should not be difficult to organize but it may be unnecessary, depending on the cause of your problems. With fuses removed, power has to come from somewhere and the non standard wiring should be visible at some point in the loom.

Should and are are two vey different things. This loom has so much tape on it I can't see anything but the three yellow wires that I played with before. And the diode is nowhere to be seen.

The yellow wires are unpolarized meaining they can go in any order.

If they set fire it is from poor connection. The yellow wires carry a lot of amps, the connectrors must be crimped and soldered on.

Crimping alone is not enough, as soon as the wire oxides frmo being in the open air the resistance will increase, heat will be generatred and things will set fire / melt.

I sumise that swapping the wires aroud before simply fixed the bad connection.

You can run the bike without the generator connected it will just drain the battery.

Biggest killer of generator is bad connection in the yellow wires.. the extra power draw is enough to overload and burn out the genny.

The biggest killer of the reg/rec is heat.. this is often caused by an old / suspect battery being unable to take charge so the reg/rec has to burn off more power and overheats.

As you can see they are all linked.

Many people over-look the battery as being an issue.

She has had a new battery just last week as I thought that might help. Apparently not. Nope. I have already used the two spares. I suspect that the previous owner has done some bizzare wiring at some point. I can't make heads or tails of any of it. Logically, it shouldn't even start without one of those fuses and yet it starts and runs happily (until the battery hoes flat that is)

Removing the other two turns off all power regardless of which one I remove. They should be a 10 but both are 30. And both seem to be main power. It makes about as much sense as tits on a fish.

Repeatedly running your new battery flat will make it an old stuffed battery real quick. Given your description of the condition of the loom, it might be best to replace it unless you are confident that you have the skills to make repairs.

If it was mechanical, I could fix it no problem. I'm a tad stumped when it comes to electrics. Think I might just buy a new loom

A "new" loom, very rare beast I would have thought, but as I said earlier, a good used one should be available from a UK forum member.

That is true. I doubt one even exists without having it specially made.
