Rvf400 price advice
Someone I know has a rvf on an n reg that they are looking to sell. The mot has run out but is a working bike and mechanically is good but fairings a little tatty but original. It's done 40000 miles and is a cat c.new clutch plates and brake pads
No service work is needed apparently. He is after 1200 for it. Is that about right or cheap or expensive.
Thanks

Re: Rvf400 price advice
I guess as it's a cat C that's probably about right (as it will affect any future resale value), as 'straight' tatty NC35's can be had for under two grand. Do you know what damage it had originally to write it off?
You know that Cat C bikes might also be more expensive to insure too?

The one on eBay that the price keeps dropping on ?
If so then £1200 as a project is fair if its the same one but surprised its not sold unless other than stated it has some other issues knackered forks frame damage engine problem etc that puts people off ?

Re: Rvf400 price advice
Thanks. It was just damage to tail unit which has been repalced and some further fskring damage. Was apparently reversed into several years ago by learner driver and it toppled over

Yes probably is that one. Watched it for a while. It looks straight enough and has been used and motd until last month. Seller says it's only cosmetic damage and mechanically is spot on.davethetrucker wrote:The one on eBay that the price keeps dropping on ?

Try a grand bearing in mind its cat c and budget at least a similar amount in restoration costs.

Re: Rvf400 price advice
Thanks. Been half looking on and off for a while for rvf or nc30 and there's very few out there. A grand was sort of what I was looking at. Don't intend to do to much to it other than service and use to be honest and get fskring repaired and re sprayed of good quality chinese faring.
Need really looking at restoration. Got three other bikes two of which I've just spent quite a bit on

Re: Rvf400 price advice
Had been watching that myself sorry if I jumped in but made an offer went down yesterday in van 380 mile round trip to collect bike needs a bit more than just service and bodywork if it makes any consolation .
Left fork seal stearing head bearings Fuel tap diaphram chain and sprockets subframe twisted and charging system iffy not insurmountable but that's after only 2 hrs today pulling bits off and assessing what wallet damage is required with probably more expenditure to come tyres etc and Whatever else needs doing .
Will probably spend same amount as purchase price getting it sorted can live with the cat c as intend keeping anyway but as someone said elsewhere your probably best paying for the best you can get unfortunately rvf prices are silly and after going after a few decent examples requiring mild resto without success I've landed this bike but look forward to the challenge as jim157 said above if its a half decent bike requiring mild fettling then 2 2.5 is probably what your looking at.
