Re: NC30 Carb rebuild - Random results.
easiest way is to fill it up then and leave it somewhere wth a sheet of cardboard in it.st22041967 wrote:However ALL the collant is going so im guessing a simple leak somewhere near the botton of the system. Probably the drain bolt(s). Im hoping that it will be the simple solution
watepump has a drainbolt in it, not loose is it?
theres also an oring in the waterpump that can fail and leak water out if you look underneath it.

Already ahead of you. However I know where the drain screw is on the pump but there are 2? on the cylinder somewhere but the diagram I have is very blurry so I can’t see them and am fearful of taking out anything unless I want trouble [emoji1]. Don't suppose you could provide a picture of said cylinder drain plugs?
I have filled her up and it took nearly 2ltr of water but no obvious signs of leaking yet even under load ....

Another possible source for a leak is the transfer pipe in the v beneath the carbs the pipe has o rings on the tube and also rubber gaskets on the alloy caps That bolt onto upper crankcase difficult to spot as any coolant leak pools in the v then gets dried up by the engine heat.

Now you mention it, the pipe is a bit corroded. Well done guys!
