Fuel tank from yahoo Japan auctions posted internationally?

Post by Icemaestro »

Hi,

Has anyone bought a tank from yahoo Japan in the last year or so? I've tried contacting moriwaki man twice by email with no reply, is there any other way I can get one from here? Even with shipping it would cost less for me to get one from Japan than to paint one here, so pretty keen to get one shipped, however the freight forwarders advise that they can't bid on it due to restrictions on anything that has had fuel or oil in it..

I have used Moriwaki Man in the past and he is very good and a company called Seaserve.JP who were VERY good, but sadly they are no longer in business.

Recently I've used a company called FromJapan. I got a set of FZR400RRSP front forks shipped with them and they still had the oil inside! When I've had forks sent in the past they were stripped and cleaned of all oil residue. I think I was lucky that I didn't get fined or the forks returned to sender!

You might be ok?

Any of the mainstream auction proxies wont touch it as its had fuel in it so unless you can get hold of someone in Japan you may struggle

He is still in business, currently mid move to a larger premisis so smaller parts / small orders dont seem to have much priority at the momet as he is clearing all the back orders / existing parts.

he did ship out a nice owo1 and a yoshimura x 1 recently, some tasty bikes.

Lol. Yes I have used from Japan before when japamart wouldn't ship a plastic fuel tank cover (lol!) - the issue is with the post though and I suspect even japamart would struggle with a fuel tank - bit more flammable than forks!

So maybe give him a little bit then try again?:-p.

I don't know anyone in Japan unfortunately - does anyone on here?:-p

Everything with fluids in it, or used with it will cause hugh risk of being hold at customs and/or returned to sender. I once tried to get a set of carbs via yahoo buyee but that got stuck in their jap warehouse due to rules and regulations. I shipped it to a local contact i know who then collected it and internationally posted to me. Sadly the local custom upon arrival cleared the shipping form and sent the parcel back to the Far East :( It took me another postage costs for 2nd attempt. That worked somehow i have no clue. So i got it a month later. It travelled all together over 30k air miles  In the end the rules are very strict, everything on their customs list is prohibited or requires additional documents and statements.

By the way...Check gooogle and search for lithium battery air plane crash. At work we face difficulties every day with world wide shipments to almost every country in the world, and various authorities questioning for all documents, certificates, etc.

Unless you know someone local it is a real pain to obtain such item. Prepare to take your wallet or to take a loss.
