NC30 and NC35 axles are interchangable.

The journey somehow led us to a 2000 RS250R Rear Hub assembly. The parts slip right into the NC Swingarms. The RS250R just has it flipped (sprocket and rotor are on opposite sides as the NC). It was a long process to get the measurements, but it turns out everything just slips in and locates just fine. There were a couple of strange gltches that we still have yet to explain, but we worked around them none-the-less. So, now we have a complete RS250R Rear Hub Assembly in place of the NC-35 Assembly for an impressive weight savings of more than 3 lbs (approximately 1.5 kg).

So here is the assembly for $330

Im not quite sure what your saying here but if your thinking the axle in the RS250 link you postedt is the same as the one in the OP then its not. You can fit the RS250 axle you mention but your need the brake setup too IIRC as the NC setup wont fit.

I miss something on this pic. Both nuts and wheel spacer

Michael
No nut or spacer, just the axle.

Like Tony said, you need the RS250 rear brake set up because it takes a smaller disc. The sprocket carrier is also different as well as the aluminum housing that holds the bearings (although the original looks like it could work as well). I'm sure a machinist could fab up a mounting bracket for a brembo rear caliper and spacers to work.
I'll be diving into this when I get back in town in a couple weeks.

No, you don´t need an other rear brake. You can fit the oem Honda brake disc with my axle.
You will need other bolts for the disc.

Just because the part numbers don't supercede or cross-reference, doesn't mean they don't work ;) We are working with an RVF, but the wheels interchange and there is no reason that this set-up shouldn't work on a VFR as well.

Pretty sure that price is not current. If you go to the other place in the US where you can get HRC parts and they have it for $375.

Pretty sure that price is not current. If you go to the other place in the US where you can get HRC parts and they have it for $375.
Firstly:
We tried to buy more RS-250 Spindles and Hubs. They were NLA (No Longer Available) AND, the ones we got were over $400 for the Hub, then over $400 for the spindle. That's $800 BEFORE all the rest of the bits. We have stupid money into our set-up. But, we can't even buy them anymore. Let me know if that has changed. We might spend more stupid money. But I literally had my Honda connections all over the world try for us with ZERO luck.

Secondly:
I have one of the super crazy-light Aluminum Axles Like Lasse has shown. I have just modeled it up in Solidworks )CAD) to make more. In addition to making it be just like the RS-250, I have also modeled features to match the RVF. It turns out there is very little difference. I finally modeled one to accept a Ducati Rear Wheel for those that want to go that route. It will take me a while to get these made. It is a tremendous amount of work when you have to start with such a large diameter of material and get threads, splines and nuts done. It won't be cheap. I expect each assembly to be over 500 GBP. Maybe even more.

Lastly:
Since my axles are going to be 7075 Aluminum, they may have a shorter life span. Hard to say until I start running them through FEA. Michael's is (correct me if I am wrong) Titanium. In looking at the pics, he has done all of his homework and has included everything you need. The brake rotos share the same Bolt-Circe between VFR, RVF and RS-250. The RS-250 just has a smaller diameter Rotor Bolt (6mm instead of 8). So, you can use the RVF brake No Problem. Also, as Michael states, he has it set up to use the stock brake.

So, his set-up is definitely ideal. The price may seem high to some. But, A LOT of thought, designing, and machine time has gone into those Spindle Assemblies. From someone trying to make his own, it's immediately apparent. Also, (if it is Ti) the material alone must cost a fortune, and it's very tricky to machine. So, I would go with his set-up if I were going to do this again.

Only one concern. Michael, please help me on this. If these are Ti, or even of they are steel, what has been done at the bearing surface of the spindle (where the needle bearing rides) to prevent galling or rapid wear?

Cheers,

a long time ago i know but there are differences on the axle but nothing which would stop fitment. The center pin which the wheel nut fixes on to the end of has a different splined end and the inner of the hub is different to match. All the outer is the same.... Another group buy on here is running now btw....hence me reading this one!

Okay, are there still people after a HRC rear axle? Because I now want one of these HRC axles! And I understood from Michael that we need at least +6 more people to gather in this buy in order a new batch of those HRC axles will be produced. See again the axle pictures in first post in this topic by Tony.

Anyone interested...and I really mean really interested?
