I have an MC28 wheel and it is the same as your #1 with squarer spokes and shallow arrow.

I dug up an nsr mc28 wheel and can confirm the above poster sounds on the money.

I wonder if the edges on wheel 2 have been smoothed off by a previous owner?

Nah, because I've got 3 rears, two rounded and the one with the sharper edges.jim157 wrote:I wonder if the edges on wheel 2 have been smoothed off by a previous owner?
And a buddy has 3 rears also and all of his are rounded.

Re: RVF 17x4.5" rear wheel differences?
Hello,
I have had the same experience, I have a RVF 17 x 4.5 and an NSR SE 17 x 4.5. I noticed the RVF rim when I blasted it the cast was not well cosmetically and needed work to powder coat, when I notice the NSR rim cast was perfect. the RVF rim spokes are a little more rounded off while the NSR SE the spokes have a sharper edge. I think its just preference now.
Hope that helps?
