Brake disk too close to fork, what am i doing wrong?

Post by Damien420 »

After tidying up the front end, just been out side rebuilding it. Noticed disk on n/s is extremely close to the fork (like vurtualy touching) iv put spacers back in and triple checked there in right way as it wnt fit at all other way round. Anyone got any ideas?
Be much appreciated as im pulling my hair out.

Do they line up with the calipers?

Not put them back on yet after seeing this. Should the disks both have the same gap between the forks?

Just popped calipers on, they do go on but brakes ar binding a little but the whole lot looks like it needs to go over to the n/s by a mm or two. Its the rivits on the disc that are almost touching.should have taken more notice when i took it apart.

Another dumb question...do you have the wheel in the correct way?

Checked and double checked. Really not sure whats wrong with it. Just taken wheel out and unbolted the disks, put them on a flat surface and measured to see if for some reason they were different but exactly the same.
Been called in by the missus now so hopefully a fresh start tomorrow night might help.

Got any pictures of it? They do run really close on one side normally, as long as it's not actually touching, the calipers sit on the discs properly there shouldn't be a problem with it.

Just put it all back in again. Its definitely all in the right way round etc. It can't physically fit any different. Its not touching but i feel a bit happier with you saying it is closer at one side so think il leave it at that as theres nothing else I can do. Thanks for everyones help. Cheers guy's
