How would I know?
Hey guys, just a question, is there any way of testing the oil cooler for good flow, without taking it all apart? Maybe feel it for cold spots after running for a while?
The same with the rad, it had some sort of flush gunk(blue and thick like milkshake with particles) in when I got the bike, and she got pretty hot when I was stood still at traffic lights. It doesn't leak and I have since flushed all that stuff out and used a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and de-ionized water for now. The last ride was only about 5km's but not enough to get her really hot.
Is there a way to tell if I have blocked cores in either? Or is there some way of soaking the (rad) in something that will dissolve blockages?
Also would it be wise to add a bypass switch to the fan if I get stuck at long lights? It seems it only comes on once the needle touches the red. That's a little too late for my liking.
Research (ie. Neo
) suggests the bike shouldn't get very hot at all. Now maybe she only got hot because of the flush fluid, but I'd rather be safe than hurt the poor girl.

Re: How would I know?
Unlike the NC30 the NC24 runs really cool im comparisson, the temp needle doesn't move a lot.
You want to check the following the cooling system.
1. rad cap is holding pressure.
2. water pump impeller still has fins on it and not rusted off
3. thermostat opens and closes properly.
After that you can get some chemical cleaners that you run in the rad to clean the thing out, usually get the hoses off and run loads of water from a pipe throuhg the bike to force out any crap, there are two drain bolts under the front downpipes too, get them out while your flushing it.
run till water runs clear.
I've had over-heating issues cased by the above 3 things.
oil cooler, i doubt youll have any trouble with it, nc30 doesnt even have one unless you have uk model..
would check the above first.. water pump and thermostat are good thigns to check first.
fan should come on before the red but as long as it comes on and it doesnt go in the red then the bike is working as its supposed to so no point adding a switch.
