NC29 L fork spring spacers
Does anyone know what length spacers in forks should be for NC29 L model. My seem to be short (about 7cms). Spring length is 317mm but fork tops go on easily without any pressure from the spring.

Re: NC29 L fork spring spacers
Hi Andy, sorry I can't help you directly but for reference the R model spacers are 5cm and the old fork springs are 30cm. Looking in the parts book the basic spacer picture for the L model looks a lot longer than your 7cm when compared to the drawing for the R model spacer at 5cm.

Re: NC29 L fork spring spacers
Thanks for the reply. I may have different forks. bought correct spacers then measured springs which are 370mm and look to be progressive. Have refreshed oil but need to find correct spacer length to give some preload before using adjusters.
Guess springs have been swapped for upgraded ones.
Also these forks have a bleed screw, don't know if that's right.

Re: NC29 L fork spring spacers
Hi, I have just remembered the vsource page, it gives various measurements and info for the 29. It may help.

You should use spacers of whatever length gives you the correct sag--there is an OEM length, but it is unlikely to be "correct" for you unless you're a Japanese yoof.

Re: NC29 L fork spring spacers
Times like these i wish i hadn't given away all my NC29 build notes. My sketchy memory has the std springs about 28cm and the spacers about 10cm.
Pretty sure when i pulled the forks apart the first time the springs had collapsed to 27cm....
But as mentioned before, get yourself some pipe to cut your own spacers and set it to the right sag. Get some large washers to use between spacer and spring to fine tune.
