Re: Cosworth 57mm Pistons HAVE ARRIVED
Until I can find rings, pistons are on hold. Yamaha 57.0mm (+1.0mm O/S of FZR400) are out of production

Re: Cosworth 57mm Pistons HAVE ARRIVED
Hi Mikeg-force performance wrote:I currently have a request in to both Cosworth, and my new piston vendor for quotation. My new vendor will have a longer delivery time because they want to build true forging tooling. This will make the pistons even stronger, and less expensive. The new vendor has made me a few sample sets athat are absolutely outstanding Quality - as they should be. They are the same supplier that makes many OEM pistons that we are familar with, as well as the piston for some well established F-1 Engine builders.
The bigger delay is, I just found our that Yamaha has discontinued the rings I was using from the FZR400. This is really bad news as it means that I don't have a ring for the pistons at this time. I have asked the piston companies of they can make the rings as well. Also, I have something on the works for an alternate solution that I should know for sure about shortly.
So, hang tight. If the new vendor comes through, I can get these piston kits significantly down in price. We shall see.

Any progress with the Pistons?

Re: Cosworth 57mm Pistons HAVE ARRIVED
So from what I understand its across the board with pistons,
i.e all manufacturers are out.
So question is does anyone know what the zxr guys use as its the most commonly races 400 so they got to be using pistons.
I know they were bigger bore than the Honda but could be used with a little work.
